Secure a bed date
at the treatment center/detox as an intervention admission.

Pick a place and time
for the preparation. Choose a safe place so the loved one won't
pop in on us. Some ideas are to meet in a quiet home or in a
hotel suite.

Carefrontations will
arrange travel plans for admission to treatment, the
interventionist's travel to and from intervention site, and
possible escort to treatment. We will coordinate this around
your preferences.

In putting your
intervention team together, ask people who are or have been
significant to your loved one. Invite people you trust that
won't say anything about the intervention to anyone. Have a
sense of urgency. This can be a life and death situation. Don't
let obstacles or objections stop your progress. Be assertive in
organizing the intervention.

Be sure the team
understands the preparation will take up to six hours &
the intervention on the next day can take one to two hours.

Explain to everyone
involved to back off. No confronting about the loved ones
use, about treatment or getting help from this point forward.
Save it for the intervention.

No one needs to
prepare anything in regards to what they’ll say in advance of
the preparation. We will accomplish everything at the
preparation for the intervention.

Begin to brainstorm about a location and reason
to get in front of your loved one for the actual intervention.
Somewhere other than where they live is preferred, but not a
necessity.

Be prepared
for your loved one to act in a way or even say something that
might cause you to second guess your decision to do
intervention. Intuitively they might suspect that something is
happening to bring challenge to their use. Don't be fooled by
this, as it is our experience you'll end up right back where you
started ...frustrated.

Reconfirm with the treatment center to finalize
financials and admit date.
